We believe plants can change the world.
Every agricultural industry in history has been driven by producing the most desirable plant traits. Front Range Biosciences®’ R&D team has developed an industry leading genomics-driven breeding platform creating new hemp plant varieties that deliver on what farmers need. We walk the fields with our growers to collect data that will continue to make us all smarter and inform our product development team. Our R&D is growing the success of crops today and laying the foundation for the future of hemp and coffee agriculture for tomorrow.
There are a variety of tools we implement to evaluate a plant’s molecular profile. By leveraging advances in next generation sequencing technologies and bioinformatics in our marker-assisted breeding platform, we are unlocking desirable plant traits to offer growers higher yields, lower risk, increased predictability and greater revenue potential.
But that’s just the beginning. By partnering with R&D programs around the world, such as CRAG in Barcelona, the University of Colorado at Boulder and UC Davis we are making breakthroughs in genomics and learning how to grow even smarter plants.
As our climate continues to be unpredictable, hemp growers are searching for resilient plant varieties which will produce results in an array of conditions. And at Front Range Bioscience®, that’s exactly what we provide.
We get our hands dirty, conducting field trials to validate regional climate performance, pinpointing key characteristics each variety demonstrates, creating a profile to differentiate from other varieties and continuously innovating our varieties. This process involves multiple factors, including working side-by-side with our customers, industry-leading farmers and researchers, as well as testing cannabinoid levels and environmental impacts on plant performance.
Throughout the country, we also partner with land-grant universities, independent farmers and farm-to-shelf companies to conduct field performance trials. By collaborating with research programs such as North Carolina State University’s Alternative Crops and Organics Program, we connect with local farmers to establish protocols for hemp field production. In partnership with these researchers, we collect plant performance data to aid farmers and improve our varieties for the future.
The future depends on regenerative practices. These practices benefit us all. They help growers improve their plant, air and soil quality to produce healthier plants and higher yields. And it also boosts the health of the local environment and community. At FRB, we believe nature provides us with an incredible tool set for improving plant performance, without the need of short-sighted practices that lead to decline in soil health and contaminants in our food and water supply.
We are working with farmers and input providers to develop best practices for improving plant performance through the use of microbes and soil amendments that lead to healthy soils, season after season. A healthy living soil is a complex mixture of rock-derived minerals, plant-derived organic matter, dissolved nutrients, gases and a rich food web of interacting organisms. Microbial activity can enhance the growth of plants through various mechanisms, including changing hormonal signaling, repelling or outcompeting pathogenic microbes and boosting the bioavailability of nutrients, optimizing plant health and generating high yields.
Reducing toxic pesticides, incorporating Clean Stock® and implementing an effective integrated pest management program won’t just grow better plants. We believe sustainable practices like these grow a better world.
